Si usted ve a alguien caminando por las calles con aire de indignación podría sospechar que le compró un carro usado a Manuel Rosales. Por supuesto, podrían existir muchas otras razones pero la sospecha se justifica porque Rosales no es confiable. Su comportamiento ha estado caracterizado por la ambigüedad y la falsedad.
Y este es un defecto fatal. Por eso, muy pocos venezolanos piensan en él como un adversario genuino del dictador de zarzuela Nicolás Maduro. Por el contrario, desde la gobernación de Maracaibo se le ha visto cooperando activamente con Maduro, en melosa cohabitación.
Los venezolanos que rechazan al régimen con decisión no aceptan que Rosales los represente, mucho menos ahora, por la manera aviesa como se ha comportado en todo lo relacionado con la candidatura presidencial de oposición. No solo se negó a participar en las primarias de octubre 2023 sino que hizo activa campaña para desacreditarla. Ha maniobrado por meses en contra de María Corina Machado, sospechamos que en secreta componenda con Maduro, ayudando al dictador por debajo de la mesa a eliminar las candidaturas de los opositores de verdad. Súbitamente, en los pocos minutos previos a final del registro, decidió inscribirse, sonando como un sacrificado por la democracia. Ver:
Esta conducta doble de Rosales no es la única señal de su comportamiento censurable. Su relación con Monómeros, la empresa venezolana que actúa en Colombia, ha sido criticada abiertamente debido a sus intentos de lograr negociados para su entorno, aprovechando su influencia durante el interinato de Juan Guaidó.

El otro grande de la guitarra venezolana Rodrigo Riera
Al lado de los nombres de Antonio Lauro y Alirio Díaz es posible colocar el de Rodrigo Riera. En su estupenda biografía de este gran guitarrista (Rodrigo Riera, La Parábola de la Tierra), Alejandro Bruzual explica la razón por la cual su nombre no ha tenido tanta resonancia como los de los otros dos gigantes. Lauro decidió temprano que sería compositor, Díaz siempre supo que su camino era el de concertista de la guitarra. Riera pasó años buscando su camino.
Como Díaz Riera nació en Carora. Aún adolescente, lustró los zapatos de Agustín Barrios Mangoré, el gran guitarrista paraguayo, encuentro que le dejaría un recuerdo imborrable. Su vida fue de constante actividad en el mundo de la música popular, en la radio y hasta en el cine, cuando tocó la guitarra en “La Balandra Isabel llegó esta tarde”.
Como compositor no fue tan prolífico como Lauro pero sus obras han encontrado su ubicación en la literatura mundial para la guitarra, en especial las cuatro composiciones que incluyo a continuación:
Todas son de una gran belleza y en ellas Riera muestra su temperamento esencialmente melancólico, extraña mezcla de humildad y rebeldía.
Una burla cruel: Donald Trump vendiendo biblias
Aprovechando la llegada de la semana santa, a fin de recaudar algún dinero para pagar sus múltiples deudas con la justicia, Donald Trump d[se ha puesto a vender biblias, utilizando el lema : “Pongamos América a rezar de nuevo”. En video de promoción que he tenido la oportunidad de ver Trump dice: “Yo tengo muchas biblias en mi hogar. Es mi libro favorito. Además, agrega, incluyo en el precio una copia de la Constitución, la Declaración de la Independencia y el Juramento a la Bandera”. El humorista Stephen Colbert ha dicho que esta versión de la Biblia parece tener una foto central similar a las que publicaba PLAYBOY.
Trump ha hecho de pedir dinero un arte, logrando hasta ahora pagar los millones de dólares a sus abogados sin tener que meterse la mano en el bolsillo. Ha vendido barajitas, zapatos, monedas de “oro” con su efigie y otras chucherías.
La venta de la Biblia, sin embargo, es la que más choca por su evidente insinceridad rayana en la blasfemia, porque este es un hombre que ha violado todos los mandamientos bíblicos de manera abierta. Ha cometido adulterio con reinas de la pornografía, en su propio hogar de Nueva York (Trump Tower); ha fundado una universidad en la cual desfalcó a centenares de estudiantes quienes creyeron en sus promesas falsas (la universidad fue cerrada por orden judicial); ha sido condenado por abuso y asalto sexual; ha sido condenado por fraude financiero en sus empresa y enfrenta hoy tres otras acusaciones criminales por obstrucción de justicia y apropiación indebida de documentos propiedad del estado.
Y vende biblias diciendo que ese es su libro preferido! La versión en portugués será distribuida por Jair Bolsonaro, la versión Húngara por Víctor Orbán y se prepara una versión en Coreana para ser vendida por Kim Jong Un, los miembros de esta cruzada religiosa que ha iniciado el devoto Trump.

I am a Venezuelan/U.S. (2011) dual citizen, living in Virginia since I decided to leave my native country, Venezuela, in 2003, after I became convinced that the person in power, Hugo Chavez, was a dictator and would lead the country to ruin. The magnitude of the tragedy he and his successor and ideological pupil, Nicolas Maduro, have generated in Venezuela is one of the worst in this century, comparable with those taking place in Gaza, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria or Cuba.
The Venezuelan regime has been in power for 23 years, refusing to accept free and democratic elections, being supported, in fact partnered, by an armed force that has abandoned its duty to respect and comply with our Constitution, which specifically demands (Article 350) that all Venezuelans should act to restore lost democracy and freedom to the country. During these years, more than seven million people have fled the country, generating acute problems to other countries in the region, including the U.S. Hundreds of citizens are in prison for opposing the dictatorial government and thousands have died violently, many at the hands of the repressive forces used by the regime. The U.N. and the international Justice and Human Rights organizations have produced reports documenting these abuses.
Thanks to the perseverance of a courageous opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, democratic Venezuelans saw a great opportunity to go to the polls this year and defeat the regime without resorting to domestic violence. However, the regime is making this impossible with the use of illegal and arbitrary maneuvers.
The country is now in crisis. The greatest single ally Venezuelans can muster to help bringing freedom and democracy back to the country is the United States, particularly if politically allied to Canada and the European Union. Although I realize the numerous and critical geopolitical pressures being exerted on the U.S. during these times and the demands being made for their help from so many hot spots around the world, I am sure that with relatively modest political and economic resources timely applied and by utilizing strong sanctions and political and economic pressure in a much more decisive manner that has been the case up to now, the U.S. can force a democratic outcome in Venezuela.
A prompt return to democracy in Venezuela will not only be coherent with the principles held by the U.S. in the promotion of freedom and democracy in the western hemisphere but it will also be of almost immediate benefit to the U.S. by (1), Moderating and eventually reverting the massive movements of Venezuelans into the U.S., easing the pressure on U.S. borders; (2), Installing a democratic government, willing to work with U.S. government and private enterprise in the multiple tasks of national reconstruction, opening the country to U.S. investment and, (3), reestablishing a link with the U.S. energy industry, to help in the energy transition which is currently taking place all over the world, Venezuela contributing again to security of energy supply to the United States.
Timely action is of the essence, to move forcefully and without further hesitation in the vigorous promotion of free and fair elections in Venezuela, using significant leverage to obtain this objective.
I hope you can support this action that would bring relief and hope to millions of Venezuelans, long suffering intolerable abuse at the hands of a regime associated with international terrorist and criminal groups actively bringing drug and crime into this country.
